Getting psyched for the season!

Are you Ready!!!!! Temps are dropping, the leaves have started to fall, and the chalet has been rented for the season. I was just updating Liftgear.com when I noticed… Colorado resorts are opening. Their is powder at loveland pass right now!!!!! With a very cold and wet summer behind us we could only pray for a cold and wet winter.
Here is what the Old Farmers Almanac said for the northeast:

Annual Weather Summary: November 2009 to May 2010
Winter will be colder than normal, on average, primarily due to persistent cold temperatures in January, with only brief thaws. Other cold periods will occur in mid-December and mid-February. Precipitation and snowfall will be below normal. Watch for a snowstorm around Thanksgiving, with other snowy periods in mid- and late December and mid- and late January.

April and May will be slightly cooler than normal, with below-normal precipitation continuing and raising concern of summer drought.

I Repeat “Watch for a snowstorm around Thanksgiving”!!!!!! Fuck the summer drought give me the winter snow.

I think I am getting a ‘chubby’!

Boreal will open today.

Silverton has powder!

Shit! even Stowe has some snow…Stowe People, that is on the east coast!!!!!!

I defiantly feel a tingle!

The Epiphany

Ever since the Infamous ‘Octagon’ my lifestyle has changed. I used to be a fixture at the hunter bars. I knew all the bartenders at Tanners tool and dye, the shot girls at Dune Road, the bouncers at Slopes, the bar backs at HVI, and the owners of Six Mile Cross. But times have changed, most of those bars are close or had a bad case of Jewish Lightning,  I have, on occasion, been seen at The Spinning Room/Board Room Bar a total of 4 times this year…Wow! However every weekend I am pressed by my new housemate Nick (Growing Up Gotti, G.U.G) to head out to his favorite bar, White Star.

Now If I do go out it is to a place that I know everyone, not White Star. Plus, I like to be home at …hummm 9:30. G.U.G could not understand this, “The party dose not get started till midnight.” he would say. I would reply to that with a shake of the head and a look of pity. ‘He dose not know what he is missing’, I would think, but to his defense he hangs out with these guys all summer. Now To the Epiphany. Last week I had some Family with their children up to the house. GUG decided to stay in on Tuesday night. He said he was tired, and wanted to ride with me and Tim the next day. I think he did not want to get hammer drunk, and stumble into my 10 year old nieces bedroom! In either case Tim and I did not think the he would be up at 7AM. You see GUG has never made it to the mountain before 11:30 and usually still hung over. The next morning to my surprise he was up and ready to go. It was a blue bird morning and not a sole on the hill. We got fresh tracks on every run. At the end of the first run GUG stuttered “S-Scott there is N-No one here… I can still…see…my tracks.” by 11:30 he clocked 15 runs and over 16000 vertical feet. The sun dipped behind some dark clouds and the wind started whipping. We all agreed, ‘lets call it a day’.

On the walk back to car GUG had a smile ear to ear. I looked at him and pointed out “Nick, if you got to the mountain right now your day would suck! That is why I don’t go out”.
